American Legion Auxiliary
REACH FOR OUR STARS
By Sue Diaz, 2011-2012 Department of Alaska President
May brings with it many functions for the American Legion Auxiliary starting with Poppy Month, although we all know that poppies are not just for Memorial Day, May is the beginning of a new year and is the launch for our 2012 Poppies. As you think about where and when you are going to set up your poppy tables why not add things to it like our three application brochure, information about Girl and Boy state, your Units application for Scholarships, and the Western District Scholarship application, a picture display of all the fun you have had over the past year. The fuller and eye catching you make your display the more people will visit you just to see what this great organization is all about!
May, also brings with it your newly installed officers for Department of Alaska! As my year comes to a close I leave with wonderful memories of all of you! Words cannot express my deep gratitude for bestowing on me the honor of representing all of you as your Department President. I leave with great thanks to all of you that help me through this year rather it be a late night phone call, a quick texted, or a length email. Thank you to all of you who allowed me to lean on you for assistance and for sharing your knowledge throughout this year!
To the incoming President - may your year be full with love and laughter, may your travels be enlightening and educational for you and those you meet. If ever you need anything please remember that we your sisters are only a phone call away! God speed, We know you will do a wonderful job!
I close this last newsletter with a Special Thank You to Judy Pusti, and Lisa Williamson for stepping up and accepting the challenge in becoming the Acting Secretary and Treasurer while our Sister Linda Schmitt is recuperating, your love and dedication to this organization has been seen, has been felt, and we all applauded you Both!
