IN THE SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Holiday and all are well.

December is VETERANS AFFAIRS & REHABILITATION month.

December 5 - Domiciliary Veterans Gift Shop

December 7 - Pearl Harbor Day

Remember the sacrifices the veterans make for us and give generously to the Gift Shop Program.

The Holiday Season is now upon us and we have a lot of work to do, both with our families and the Auxiliary functions. December is a month filled with holiday work, such as childrens Christmas parties, food baskets for the needy, and the Gift Shops for our Veterans, in Anchorage and Fairbanks, provide emotional support and cheerful companionship to the hospitals and homebound veterans. Auxiliary members

carry a sense of pride knowing that their time is well spent. What ever your Unit does, dont forget to publicize the events and invite the community to support our

Veterans and join us. One of our most important member benefits is the pride and unique group of women, joined in the fellowship of volunteerism, patriotism and dedication to veterans, young people and communities. I hope all Units have returned their Poppy order to the Department Secretary.

A Big Thank You to all the Units that sent in membership.

The next membership target is 75%. Membership needs to be in to the Department by January 6, 2010!

In the spirit of giving and in the spirit of the holiday season, "thank yous" go to all the members who made the Anchorage and Fairbanks Veterans Gift Shops an overwhelming success!

I would like to wish you all a joyous, peaceful, healthy, and prosperous New Year. Please remember what this season is truly about, the birth of Jesus, the spirit of giving, and remembering our troops serving around the world away from home during this holiday season!
