THE AMERICAN LEGION ALASKA BOYS STATE
TO: ALL HIGHSCHOOL JUNIORS:
The 50th Annual American Legion Alaska Boys State Program will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday June 8, 2013 through Friday June 14, 2013. This years program will be held at Meier Lake Conference Center off Wasilla Fishhook Road near Wasilla. The Inauguration and Reception will be held on Friday evening June 14, 2013, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Alaska Boys State Program is open to High School Juniors (those who will be seniors during the 2013-2014 school year.) and are at least 16 years of age and not over 18 years of age.
Boys State is an objective citizenship training program which includes individual responsibility to the Community, State and Nation. It is our earnest hope that each young man attending Boys State sessions will return to his Community a better citizen and that we will have aroused in him a desire to demonstrate this fact by his willingness to make contributions which will help to make his Community a better place in which to live. Boys State is NOT a recreational camp. The Boys State Program is for qualified male High School Juniors only.
The American Legion plays a very important role in the development of the future leaders of this State and Nation. We take great pride in offering this program to the young men of Alaska.
